Quick Setup Wizard

When you log into Quickenerp for the first time, the setup wizard guides you through the essential configuration. You can also manually launch it at any time from Settings > General Settings by clicking the "Run Setup Wizard" link at the bottom of the page.

Step 2: Default Currency & Language

  • Default Currency – Select your primary currency (USD, EUR, GBP, etc.). This is the default for all transactions. You can add more currencies later in Settings > Currencies.
  • Default Language – Select the default language for the interface. Users can change their own language in Preferences. Additional languages can be installed in Settings > Translations > Load a Translation.

Step 3: Install Apps

The wizard shows a grid of popular apps. Check the ones you need for your business:

  • Sales – Manage quotations, sales orders, and customer relationships.
  • CRM – Lead and opportunity pipeline management.
  • Accounting – Invoicing, payments, bank reconciliation, and financial reports.
  • Inventory – Stock management, warehouse operations, traceability.
  • Purchases – Procurement and vendor management.
  • Manufacturing – Bill of materials, production orders, MRP.
  • Projects – Task management, timesheets, billable projects.
  • HR – Employee records, contracts, time off, recruitment.
  • Website – Website builder, blog, eCommerce, portal.
  • eLearning – Create and manage online courses (this knowledge base).

Install more apps later from the Apps menu. Only install what you need – each app adds menu items and consumes system resources.

Step 4: Configure Email

Quickenerp needs email to send quotations, invoices, notifications, and marketing emails.

Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP)

Quickenerp connects to your email provider's SMTP server. Common configurations:

Provider Server Port Security Authentication
Gmail / Google Workspacesmtp.gmail.com587TLSApp Password (not your regular password)
Microsoft 365 / Outlooksmtp.office365.com587TLSSMTP Authentication with your email/password
SendGridsmtp.sendgrid.net587TLSAPI Key as username
Mailgunsmtp.mailgun.org587TLSSMTP credentials from your Mailgun account
Custom SMTPYour server25, 465, or 587SSL/TLS or STARTTLSAs configured by your provider

Incoming Mail Server (IMAP)

Optional but recommended: configure an incoming server so Quickenerp can:

  • Receive replies to emails and attach them to records.
  • Create records from incoming emails (e.g. a new lead from a contact form submission).
  • Process email aliases for Discuss channels and helpdesk.

Step 5: Dashboard Tour

The wizard ends with a short interactive tour of the dashboard and main menus. Pay attention to:

  • Where the app switcher is (top-left).
  • How to access Settings.
  • The location of the global search (Ctrl+K).
  • How to open your user preferences (top-right avatar).

Post-Setup Checklist

After the wizard completes, you should verify:

  1. Send a test email from Settings > General Settings to verify your SMTP works.
  2. Check your company details are correct in Settings > Companies.
  3. Install any additional apps you need from the Apps menu.
  4. Create your first user (if you need other team members to access the system).

Tip: You can re-run the setup wizard anytime from Settings > General Settings – scroll to the bottom – click "Run Setup Wizard".
