Quickenerp User Interface

The Quickenerp interface is designed for productivity. Every element is placed to help you access the right information quickly. Below is a detailed breakdown of every part of the screen.

Main Areas of the Screen

Apps Switcher (Hamburger Menu) Top-left corner (☰ icon) Shows a grid of all installed apps. Click any app to switch to that module. The currently active app is highlighted. Ctrl+Shift+A
Main Menu Bar Top of screen, below the app switcher Shows the current app name on the left and its menu items in a horizontal bar. Click any menu item to navigate. Some menus have dropdown submenus.
Global Search Bar Top-right corner Type anything (customer name, invoice number, product code, phone number) and Quickenerp searches across all modules instantly. Results are grouped by module. Ctrl+K
User Menu Top-right (your avatar/initials) Account settings, preferences (language, timezone, notifications), switch company (multi-company), lock screen, and logout.
Notifications Bell Top-right, next to user menu Shows unread notifications – mentions, assigned activities, approval requests, and system alerts. Red dot indicates unread items.
Menu Sidebar Left side (collapsible) Lists all menu items for the current module. Click any item to navigate. The sidebar can be collapsed to give more screen space using the arrow icon at the top. Ctrl+Shift+S
Action Buttons (Header) Top of content area Context-dependent: Create, Edit, Import, Export, Print, Actions (gear icon). The available buttons change based on what you are viewing. Alt+C (Create), Alt+E (Edit)
Status Bar Top of a record form (below header) Shows the current stage of a record. The coloured pill indicates status – Draft (grey), Confirmed (blue), Done (green), Cancelled (red). Click to change stage.
Breadcrumb Trail Above the content area Shows your current location (e.g. Sales > Orders > Quotations > QUT/2026/0001). Click any part to jump back to that level.
Chatter (Discussion Panel) Bottom of a record form Internal notes, email threads, log history (field tracking changes), and file attachments for the current record. Use @mentions to notify colleagues.

Navigation Basics – Step by Step

  1. Switch Apps – Click the ☰ icon (app switcher) in the top-left corner. A grid of all installed apps appears. Click any app to enter it. The active app changes colour.
  2. Use Menu Items – Once inside an app, the left sidebar shows all menu items organised into groups (Orders, Configuration, Reporting). Click any item to open its respective view.
  3. Search Globally – Press Ctrl+K to open the command palette. Type a module name (e.g. "Accounting"), menu name (e.g. "Customer Invoices"), or record name. Results appear instantly. Use arrow keys to navigate and Enter to open.
  4. Use the Breadcrumb – The breadcrumb trail at the top shows your current location. Click "Quotations" to return to the list view, or "Sales" to go back to the app root.
  5. Favourites & Recent – Click the star icon next to any menu item to add it to your favourites for quick access. Your most recently accessed records appear in the Recent menu under your avatar.
  6. Keyboard Navigation – Press Tab to move between fields, Shift+Tab to go backwards, and Enter to confirm selections. Escape closes popups and cancels edits.

Recent Interface Changes

  • Command Palette (Ctrl+K) – New in v18, replaces the old search bar. It searches both menu items and records simultaneously. Type "create invoice" to jump directly to the create form.
  • Responsive Sidebar – The left menu sidebar collapses automatically on smaller screens. Use the toggle icon to expand/collapse manually.
  • Quick Create – In kanban view, click the + button at the top of any column to create a new record and place it directly in that stage without navigating away.
  • Enhanced Chatter – The chatter now supports emoji reactions, inline image previews, and threaded replies.
